we lack love...

Well, I don't know if you feel the same way as I do. I'm a 16-year-old blogger but I think that we lack love for our country. We aren't proud to tell our nationality, we don't think our country has hope, and we focus on our liabilities. What makes you think that we're going to survive with such behavior?

Do we honestly believe that there is hope for people who do not have hope?

I personally believe that HOPE is for the people who believe. Anyway, I find it hard to believe that what was once a great country became a slave of other foreign lands. I know that at some point in time we will have our downfalls, but don't you think that we've been down here too long and we can't manage to climb our way up just like we should?

We tend to blame others for our problems. We seem to complain about everything. Whenever we see litter scattered everywhere, we blame the government about not doing anything for the environment, when we see poor people begging on the streets, we blame again the government because they don't do anything about poverty, when we see the roads all cracking up because of poor maintenance, we blame the government because we don't see where our taxes go but did it ever occur to us to blame ourselves for not being disciplined citizens of our land? Did we ever think about what good we might be for our country? Did we ever think about the help we could bring to our country? Do we think that we deserve to be successful when all we think about is "what's in it for me?"? Our selfishness brings us down.

I'm not taking sides because I know that both the government and us, its people, have our own faults that we have to consider.

There's this other issue that hurts my feelings as a Filipino citizen. Remember when all the graduating high school students are supposed to take NCAE? Most of the students who took it were advised to take vocational courses instead of pursuing their dreams so as to save money for the parents. I don't think that idea is good. I have nothing against vocational graduates but the act of hindering the young people to pursue their dreams is just like giving them hope and when they come for it you take it all away.

Another thing, why do we prefer to work abroad when we could work for our country? We need many teachers here and yet we prefer to work for others. We need doctors, yet they're gone because they've become nurses already. Why do we become slaves of money? Do we not get enough?

Do we not like to think about what we would be 5 years from now rather than what do we need to fix 5 years from now?
